Aina Bauzà will present at the Palma International Boat Show the Redó by Ànima Negre. A 6.50-metre sailing boat ready to cross the Atlantic

  • ● Bauzà is the first Balearic woman to compete solo in offshore sailing.
  • After reaching the podium in the first race of the season, the 100 miles between islands competition. Aina Bauzà will be at the Palma International Boat Show to present her project..

The Palma International Boat Show will show a great diversity of boats and projects from 27th to 30th April in Palma’s Moll Vell. The PIBS will also strengthen its commitment to supporting the most alternative boats. Among the more than 200 boats that will be on the water during the show, one of the highlights is : Redó by Ànima Negre by Aina Bauzà. At only 6, 50 metres in length, it is one of the fastest boats to cross the Atlantic under sail with that lenght.

mallorcan Aina Bauzà of the Club de Vela Port d’Andratx has made the sea her professional and personal life. Since she started competing in dinghy sailing, she has not stopped adding miles and now she is preparing the next challenge: to cross the Atlantic solo A challenge like this implies dedicating 7 days a week to preparing, training, training, preparing the boat and above all preparing physically and mentally. A challenge like this means dedicating all your time and energy.

One of the few women to compete in such extreme conditions.

● Bauzà is the first Balearic woman to compete solo in offshore sailing. There are still few women in sailing, especially in offshore sailing. Of the 90 participant in the Mini Transat only 1 in 10 are woman and only 5 women and only 5 women have done it before in Spain. Aina is following in the footsteps of such leading figures as Anna Corbella, Pilar Passanau and Djemila Tassin.

The challenge: The Mini Transat

Aina Bauzà’s next big step is to take part in the Mini Transat, a single-handed, unassisted race with the minimum comforts on board: dry sails converted into a bed, a bucket as a toilet, freeze-dried food and hard training to sleep only in short 20-minute naps for weeks on end. The Mini 6.50 class are 6.5 metre sailboats, one of the smallest and fastest boats, but also very physically demanding. In this case Redó by Ànima Negre is a Vector, a very technical boat that surprises for its round bow design. With it, he will face a journey of some 4,000 nautical miles in two stages. A first, more technical stage from the Sables-de Olonne in the Canary Islands and a second, more endurance stage to the Caribbean.

The Mallorcan, from the Club de Vela Port d’Andratx, has been preparing for the challenge for a year now and there are still the last races in the Mediterranean and in France. Next on the agenda: the SoloMed 700-mile solo race, which is scheduled to start on the 8th of May from Barcelona.

A day of sailing in a Mini 6.50

To share the experience of sailing a boat as competitive and technical as this one. Aina Bauzà will be raffling off a sailing day on the mini among the visitors to the show who come to see the project on the 27th, 28th, 29th and 30th of May. The winner will be announced on 30 Abril at 7 pm.
