96% of the exhibitors at the Palma International Boat Show want to return for the next edition of the show
The boat show, organised by IDI and BYBA, equals last year's attendance number with more than 32,000 visitors.
The Palma International Boat Show has become an essential commercial event for the nautical companies exhibiting, as can be seen from the figures of the survey carried out by the organisers among the exhibitors. According to the data, 96 % of the participants want to repeat at the next edition, and of these, more than 20 % ask for more space. For the organisers, this high rate of loyalty is proof of the success of the event that closed its doors last Sunday in Palma's Moll Vell.
More than 32,000 people visited the boat show during the four days it lasted, thus equalling last year's figures. One aspect highlighted by some of the exhibitors is the profile of the visitors, who were very interested in learning about and buying the products and boats on display. The Palma International Boat Show is organised by the Institute for Business Innovation of the Balearic Islands (IDI), an entity dependent on the Vice-Presidency and Regional Ministry of Energy Transition, Productive Sectors and Democratic Memory, and the Balearic Yacht Brokers Association (BYBA).
This year the boat show has had 271 participating companies and more than 600 boats on display, more than 250 at sea, in a fairground of more than 81,000 square meters. It was an edition characterised by the presentation of new models of yachts and products from all over the world, and by the large presence of sailing boats, the most sustainable option for sailing. Environmentally friendly boats and nautical equipment were also the protagonists, as well as innovation in the nautical sector thanks to the Yachting Ventures Innovation Corner.
The Palma International Boat Show once again hosted the Palma Superyacht Village, a section specially designed for acquiring or buying boats over 24 metres in length, both sailing and motor boats. The Palma Superyacht Village featured an area specialising in boat repair and maintenance, known as refit&repair, with the participation of more than 20 leading companies in the nautical industry, as well as service companies located in other areas of the Village.
It should also be remembered that the Marcial Sánchez Barcáiztegui award went to the Marilles Foundation, which has been recognised for the work it carries out to conserve and raise awareness of the preservation of the sea, especially its efforts to minimise the environmental impact of human activity in the sea, highlighting the value of artisanal fishing as a sub-sector of fishing that generates the most jobs and is the most environmentally friendly. This award is given by the fair to people or institutions that have contributed through their business, social, environmental or sporting role to the promotion of the nautical sector in all its aspects.
Innovation and training in the nautical sector, protagonists of the Palma International Boat Show
The boat show, organised by IDI and BYBA, will close its doors today with the traditional siren call of the boats. ation (BYBA).
The Palma International Boat Show will close its doors today at 8 pm with the traditional siren call heard from all along Palma's Paseo Marítimo. In addition, the image of the boats waiting for the opening of the floating bridge to leave the fairgrounds after four days of the show will be repeated once again.
Today, a large number of visitors are expected to flock to the Moll Vell to see what's new at the 271 exhibitors and more than 600 boats at the Palma International Boat Show, organised by the Balearic Islands Institute for Business Innovation (IDI), an entity dependent on the Vice-Presidency and Regional Ministry of Energy Transition, Productive Sectors and Democratic Memory, and the Balearic Yacht Brokers Association (BYBA).
With one day of the show still to go, the organisers have a very positive assessment of this edition, which has been characterised by a very full agenda of events such as presentations of new models of boats or products worldwide, or activities to promote training and employment within the nautical sector. In addition, the Palma Superyacht Village area hosted the Innovation Corner, a space dedicated to nautical start-ups focused on innovation in the nautical world, especially with digitalisation and sustainability solutions. It should be remembered that the nautical sector is one of the strategic sectors for the economy of the Balearic Islands, generating around 966 million euros and employing more than 5,000 workers. According to the organisers, "this show perfectly fulfils a dual purpose, being the last in the European exhibition calendar, and being the first to open the nautical season. This double aspect makes it a very attractive event for companies to close deals or even start those for next season".
More than 2,300 people have worked these days at the show, including exhibitors, fitters and organisational staff. In addition, it should be noted that the fair has caught the attention of local, national and international media. In total, 377 journalists have been accredited, some of them coming from France, Italy, United Kingdom, Qatar, Germany, United States, Puerto Rico or China.
The Palma International Boat Show recognises the Marilles Foundation's work to conserve the sea with the Marcial Sánchez-Barcáiztegui Award
Vice-president Yllanes presented the award to the association's representatives at the Palma International Boat Show
The Marilles Foundation has been awarded the Marcial Sánchez-Barcáiztegui prize, which is presented each year at the Palma International Boat Show. The vice-president and councillor for Energy Transition, Productive Sectors and Democratic Memory, Juan Pedro Yllanes, presented the award to Sandra Espeja, on behalf of Marilles, this morning at the Moll Vell exhibition centre. The managing director of the Institute for Business Innovation of the Balearic Islands (IDI), Mariona Luis, and other representatives of Marilles also attended the ceremony.
The organisation wished to recognise Marilles' conservation and awareness-raising work to preserve the sea, especially its efforts to minimise the environmental impact of human activity in the sea, highlighting the value of artisanal fishing as the fishing subsector that generates the most jobs and is the most environmentally friendly. The work of Marilles in the creation and maintenance of marine protected areas, as well as the promotion of protection against marine pollution, was also valued.
The vice-president and councillor for Energy Transition, Productive Sectors and Democratic Memory, Juan Pedro Yllanes, highlighted "the great work you carry out in raising awareness of marine science, respect, training and dissemination in Balearic society".
For her part, Sandra Espeja stressed that "the sea provides us with many benefits, but we invest little in its conservation. We believe that it is possible to reconcile economic prosperity with marine and coastal ecosystems in an excellent state of conservation. If we take it seriously and apply courageous measures, the Balearic Islands can be a world reference in marine conservation.
Marilles is a non-profit foundation that works to turn the Balearic Islands into a world example of marine conservation. They fund projects that improve the conservation of the Balearic Sea and its coasts, collaborating with other foundations and private donors. Marilles' priorities are to improve marine protected areas, ensure sustainable fishing and promote marine education. They also support projects that reduce the impact of shipping, tourism, plastic and pollution of the Balearic Sea, as well as coordinating local efforts and funding the most effective marine conservation measures. To this end, they encourage dialogue between experts and organisations to address the challenges facing the marine environment, and forge connections between those who are best placed to carry out projects with which to fund them.
Previous winners of the Marcial Sánchez-Barcáiztegui Award have been the Balearic Islands Naval Regatta Commission (2013); the SAR Princesa Sofía Trophy (2014); the Consell de Mallorca School of Mestres d'Aixa (2015); Margarita Dahlberg (2016); Diego Colón de Carvajal (2017); Miguel Suñer (2018); Isabel Subirats (2019); the Red Cross of the Sea (2021), and the Sant Pere Fishermen's Guild (2022).
The Palma International Boat Show consolidates its position as the benchmark fair for the start of the nautical season with 271 exhibitors and more than 600 boats.
The event will take place from the 27th to 30th of April in Palma's Moll Vell. T
he Palma International Boat Show is consolidating its position as one of the essential fairs at the start of the nautical season. This is borne out by the participation figures, with 271 participating companies and some 600 boats on display (more than 250 at sea), spread over an 81,000-square-metre exhibition site. The boat show, which will take place from the 27th to 30th of April in Palma's Moll Vell, will be the setting for presentations of new products on a global scale, as well as the latest developments in a sector that generates around 966 million euros in the Balearic Islands and employs more than 5,000 people.
The Palma International Boat Show is organised by the Vice-Presidency and Regional Ministry of Energy Transition, Productive Sectors and Democratic Memory, through the Balearic Islands Institute for Business Innovation (IDI) and the Balearic Yacht Brokers Association (BYBA).
Sailboats are once again the stars of the Palma fair, which has always been characterised by having one of the largest exhibitions of this type of vessel in Europe, especially large boats. There will also be sailing and motor catamarans, which have increased their presence over the years, as they are the preferred vessels for nautical charters. With regard to motor boats, the fair will show the latest models of tenders and dayboats medium-high length, and of transportable semi-rigid boats of medium-small length, in accordance with the latest trends in the nautical sector.
According to the organisers, the medium length of the boats on display at the fair has increased in recent years; in fact, many are already over 25 metres in length, reaching up to 55 metres for the largest yacht at the fair, the sailing yacht Elena of London. Even so, the range of boats on offer is complemented by the smaller ones, which are exhibited on land.
One of the clearest vocations that has been consolidated at the fair is the presentation of novelties related to sustainability. Sailboats aside, which represent the most sustainable sailing option, more and more companies are striving to find new products that are more respectful of the environment, aware of the need to protect the marine environment. Thus, this year new models of electric boats built in Mallorca will be presented, as well as others from other countries that have chosen Palma to make themselves known and that use the sun's energy to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels. This concern for the environment can also be seen in other products related to the sector, such as engines and nautical equipment.
Palma Superyacht Village
The Palma International Boat Show includes the Palma Superyacht Village, a section specially designed for acquiring or buying boats over 24 metres in length, both sailing and motor boats. The Palma Superyacht Village has an area specialising in the repair and maintenance of boats, known as refit&repair, which this year will feature the participation of more than 20 leading companies in the nautical industry, as well as service companies located in other areas of the Village.
The great novelty this year is the incorporation of the Innovation Corner, organised by Yachting Venturas, a space that seeks to promote dialogue between emerging companies, dedicated to innovation, digitalisation and sustainability, and industry professionals. In this space, twelve emerging companies specialising in the nautical sector will present the advances and new technologies applied to the sector.
Marcial Sánchez Barcáiztegui Award
On Saturday 29th April, the organisers of the Palma International Boat Show are scheduled to present the Marcial Sánchez Barcáiztegui Award, an award given to people or institutions that have contributed to the promotion of the nautical sector in all its aspects through their business, social, environmental or sporting role.
Previous winners of the Marcial Sánchez Barcáiztegui award have been the Balearic Islands Naval Regatta Commission (2013), the H.R.H. Princess Sofia Trophy (2014), the School of Ribera Carpenters of the Council of Mallorca (2015), Margarita Dahlberg (2016), Diego Colón de Carvajal (2017), Miguel Suñer (2018), Isabel Subirats (2019), the Red Cross of the Sea (2021) and the Sant Pere Fishermen's Guild (2022).
Agenda
This edition of the fair will have a wide range of parallel activities that will be held in the auditorium of the Port Center Port Authority building and on the fairgrounds. Of particular note are the events organised by the SOIB-Employment Service of the Balearic Islands together with the Balearic Marine Cluster to promote employment and training in the sector. In addition, presentations of regattas and challenges have also been organised.

Aina Bauzà will present at the Palma International Boat Show the Redó by Ànima Negre. A 6.50-metre sailing boat ready to cross the Atlantic
- ● Bauzà is the first Balearic woman to compete solo in offshore sailing.
- After reaching the podium in the first race of the season, the 100 miles between islands competition. Aina Bauzà will be at the Palma International Boat Show to present her project..
The Palma International Boat Show will show a great diversity of boats and projects from 27th to 30th April in Palma's Moll Vell. The PIBS will also strengthen its commitment to supporting the most alternative boats. Among the more than 200 boats that will be on the water during the show, one of the highlights is : Redó by Ànima Negre by Aina Bauzà. At only 6, 50 metres in length, it is one of the fastest boats to cross the Atlantic under sail with that lenght.
mallorcan Aina Bauzà of the Club de Vela Port d’Andratx has made the sea her professional and personal life. Since she started competing in dinghy sailing, she has not stopped adding miles and now she is preparing the next challenge: to cross the Atlantic solo A challenge like this implies dedicating 7 days a week to preparing, training, training, preparing the boat and above all preparing physically and mentally. A challenge like this means dedicating all your time and energy.
One of the few women to compete in such extreme conditions.
● Bauzà is the first Balearic woman to compete solo in offshore sailing. There are still few women in sailing, especially in offshore sailing. Of the 90 participant in the Mini Transat only 1 in 10 are woman and only 5 women and only 5 women have done it before in Spain. Aina is following in the footsteps of such leading figures as Anna Corbella, Pilar Passanau and Djemila Tassin.
The challenge: The Mini Transat
Aina Bauzà's next big step is to take part in the Mini Transat, a single-handed, unassisted race with the minimum comforts on board: dry sails converted into a bed, a bucket as a toilet, freeze-dried food and hard training to sleep only in short 20-minute naps for weeks on end. The Mini 6.50 class are 6.5 metre sailboats, one of the smallest and fastest boats, but also very physically demanding. In this case Redó by Ànima Negre is a Vector, a very technical boat that surprises for its round bow design. With it, he will face a journey of some 4,000 nautical miles in two stages. A first, more technical stage from the Sables-de Olonne in the Canary Islands and a second, more endurance stage to the Caribbean.
The Mallorcan, from the Club de Vela Port d'Andratx, has been preparing for the challenge for a year now and there are still the last races in the Mediterranean and in France. Next on the agenda: the SoloMed 700-mile solo race, which is scheduled to start on the 8th of May from Barcelona.
A day of sailing in a Mini 6.50
To share the experience of sailing a boat as competitive and technical as this one. Aina Bauzà will be raffling off a sailing day on the mini among the visitors to the show who come to see the project on the 27th, 28th, 29th and 30th of May. The winner will be announced on 30 Abril at 7 pm.

The assembly of the Palma International Boat Show mobilises more than 180 people to build a fairground in Moll Vell
The boat show organised by the Vice-Presidency and BYBA will take place from 27th to 30th April in Palma.
More than 180 people have been working for the past fortnight on the construction of the fairgrounds that will host the next edition of the Palma International Boat Show, which will take place from the 27th to 30th of April in Palma's Moll Vell. The boat show is organised by the Institute for Business Innovation of the Balearic Islands (IDI), an entity dependent on the Vice-Presidency and Regional Ministry of Energy Transition, Productive Sectors and Democratic Memory, and the Balearic Yacht Brokers Association (BYBA).
The fact of having to build a fairground outside and at sea is a great difficulty, and that is why the assembly requires operators, electrical installation technicians, fitters, decorators, carpenters, divers, plumbers, security and transportation, among many other professionals from different fields, working to leave the site ready for the celebration of the Fair, which will be the first of the season for the nautical sector.
The Vice President and Minister for Energy Transition, Productive Sectors and Democratic Memory, Juan Pedro Yllanes, said that the organisation of this fair "is vital for the marine industry and its industry which are, along with the energy transition and innovation, a vital factor in the economic diversification of the Balearic Islands".
It should be noted that in order to accommodate all the boats that travel to Palma to take part in the Fair, up to 200 metres of floating line needs to be installed for the mooring of yachts or the movement of visitors. One of the novelties this year is the task of restoring and fine-tuning all the floating pontoons to offer exhibitors and visitors a quality infrastructure with greater safety. In addition, the floating walkway linking the Espigó de Consigna with the Moll de la Industria Pesquera in a circular route has also been installed over the last few days. The walkway is 72 metres long and 5 metres wide.
It should be remembered that on the occasion of the Palma International Boat Show, the Contramoll Mollet road has been closed to traffic today until the 4th of May at 3 pm.

The Palma International Boat Show becomes the pole of attraction for the world's nautical world
The next edition of the show will kick off the Mediterranean sailing season from 27th to 30th April at the Moll Vell
The nautical sector will gather once again this year at the Palma International Boat Show, which has become one of the world's nautical poles of attraction. One month away from the inauguration of the show, which will take place from the 27th to 30th of April, the fairgrounds are already full to capacity with companies exhibiting new models of boats and nautical products.
One of the most characteristic aspects of this year's show is the increase in the number of international shipyards exhibiting directly at the fair, a fact that had been noted in previous years but has now been consolidated. As a result, the Palma International Boat Show will be the setting for the presentation of the latest boat models from shipyards all over the world.
In addition to the presence of shipyards, the fair's offer is once again very balanced this year, although sailing continues to be one of the main protagonists in Palma, which will have the largest exhibition of large sailing boats in Europe. On the other hand, the catamarans stand out, both sailing and motorboats, as they are one of the favourite charter boats. With regard to motorboats, the fair will show the latest models of tenders and dayboats of medium-high lengths, and transportable semi-rigid boats of medium-small lengths, in accordance with the latest trends in the nautical sector.
Sustainability will be one of the highlights of the fair, which can be seen in the predominance of sailing, the most natural way of sailing, the new electric models, as well as others that use the sun's energy to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels.
Finally, there will also be a growing area for the boat repair and maintenance industry, located in the Palma Superyacht Village area, which will showcase superyachts over 24 metres in length from the international brokerage and charter market.
The Palma International Boat Show has proven to be a driving force in the sector, as it has been and continues to be one of the most important gateways for international companies that want to establish themselves on the Balearic islands or establish relations with local firms to open up new business channels.
In addition, it is worth mentioning the fair's collaboration with different nautical associations, such as the agreement signed with the Association of Nautical Companies of the Balearic Islands (AENIB) to promote the participation of its members in the event. In addition, the Palma International Boat Show was once again the official sponsor of the Nautical Congress organized by the National Association of Nautical Companies (ANEN), which brings together professionals from the sector from all over the country to promote debate on the hottest topics on the nautical agenda.
Visitors can fin out all the latest news about the show on the website www.palmainternationalboatshow.com, where they can buy single tickets or, if they are professionals in the sector, a pass that allows them to visit the show every day.
The Palma International Boat Show is organized by the Institute for Business Innovation (IDI), a body that reports to the Vice-Presidency and Regional Ministry of Energy Transition, Productive Sectors and Democratic Memory, and the Balearic Yacht Brokers Association (BYBA).
ANEN celebrates a decade of the Nautical Congress with the support of the Palma International Boat Show
The Association of Marine Industries organizes a new meeting with the marine industry under the title A Decade of Blue Impulse
The Palma International Boat Show once again shows its support for the marine industry by sponsoring the Nautical Congress of the National Association of Marine Industries (ANEN) to be held on 9th and 10th March under the title "A Decade of Blue Impulse". Those interested can already register for the event, which this year moves to San Sebastian.
During the two days of the Congress, experiences will be compared, and opinions will be exchanged on the current situation and the most immediate future of the Spanish nautical sector, based on six areas of debate: economy, legislation, tourism and ports, training, digitalization, and sustainability. With the participation of leading speakers and representatives of the competent government bodies involved in the nautical sector and nautical tourism.
The Congress, a benchmark meeting for the nautical community in Spain, has brought together more than 500 attendees in its last editions, including entrepreneurs and business people from the nautical sector, professionals, representatives of the administration and related institutions.

More than 60% of exhibitors have already confirmed their presence at the next Palma International Boat Show.
The Palma boat show, which will take place from 27th to 30th April, has begun the marketing process.
More than 60% of the exhibitors who participated in the last edition of the Palma International Boat Show have already confirmed their presence at the next event in 2023, which will take place from 27th to 30th April in Palma's Moll Vell. The boat show began the marketing period last October for the companies that took part in last year's event, and in less than a month there has been a very positive response from nautical firms that want to repeat the experience. In addition, the trend is towards booking more space and more moorings. From this November, the fair organisers will open the event to new companies in the sector that have never participated in the PIBS.
The Palma International Boat Show is organised by the Institute for Business Innovation of the Balearic Islands (IDI), an entity that reports to the Vice-Presidency and Regional Ministry of Energy Transition, Productive Sectors and Democratic Memory, and the Balearic Yacht Brokers Association (BYBA).
The last edition of the fair represented the recovery after the pandemic. It brought together 276 participating companies, 21% more than the previous year, and 264 boats on display at sea. In addition, the Palma International Boat Show was visited by more than 32,000 people, thus marking a 50% increase over the 2021 boat show. For four days the PIBS was attended by numerous professionals and nautical enthusiasts, who expressed their high opinion of the quality of the products on display and the new products presented.
The Palma International Boat Show makes the Balearic Islands the nerve centre of professional and recreational boating and hosts worldwide presentations of new products in an industry regarded as strategic for the economy of the Balearic Islands. In addition to the offer of new boats, equipment and nautical services, the fair has a large exhibition of yachts measuring over 24 metres in length and an area for boat repair and maintenance companies located in Palma Superyacht Village.
All the information and the application form to participate in the next edition of the PIBS can be found at www.palmainternationalboatshow.com
