Innovation and training in the nautical sector, protagonists of the Palma International Boat Show

The boat show, organised by IDI and BYBA, will close its doors today with the traditional siren call of the boats. ation (BYBA).

The Palma International Boat Show will close its doors today at 8 pm with the traditional siren call heard from all along Palma’s Paseo Marítimo. In addition, the image of the boats waiting for the opening of the floating bridge to leave the fairgrounds after four days of the show will be repeated once again.

Today, a large number of visitors are expected to flock to the Moll Vell to see what’s new at the 271 exhibitors and more than 600 boats at the Palma International Boat Show, organised by the Balearic Islands Institute for Business Innovation (IDI), an entity dependent on the Vice-Presidency and Regional Ministry of Energy Transition, Productive Sectors and Democratic Memory, and the Balearic Yacht Brokers Association (BYBA).

With one day of the show still to go, the organisers have a very positive assessment of this edition, which has been characterised by a very full agenda of events such as presentations of new models of boats or products worldwide, or activities to promote training and employment within the nautical sector. In addition, the Palma Superyacht Village area hosted the Innovation Corner, a space dedicated to nautical start-ups focused on innovation in the nautical world, especially with digitalisation and sustainability solutions. It should be remembered that the nautical sector is one of the strategic sectors for the economy of the Balearic Islands, generating around 966 million euros and employing more than 5,000 workers. According to the organisers, “this show perfectly fulfils a dual purpose, being the last in the European exhibition calendar, and being the first to open the nautical season. This double aspect makes it a very attractive event for companies to close deals or even start those for next season”.

More than 2,300 people have worked these days at the show, including exhibitors, fitters and organisational staff. In addition, it should be noted that the fair has caught the attention of local, national and international media. In total, 377 journalists have been accredited, some of them coming from France, Italy, United Kingdom, Qatar, Germany, United States, Puerto Rico or China.
