This PIBS award recognizes companies, organizations, or individuals who have contributed to the growth of the nautical sector
The counsellor of Enterprise, Employment and Energy, Alejandro Sáenz de San Pedro, presented the Marcial Sánchez Barcáiztegui Award this morning to businessman Toni Salom in recognition of his work as head of the Balearic Marine Cluster. Salom chaired the organization from its creation in 2019 until this year, when a renewed board of directors took over.
Over these years, the nautical industry association has grown from around twenty founding companies to one hundred members, employing more than 1,200 people and generating over 400 million euros in revenue. The cluster, which was born with the aim of positioning the Balearic Islands as an international benchmark in the nautical sector, has, under Toni Salom’s leadership, become one of the key players in the industry.
The counsellor expressed his gratitude for «the great dedication and work of Toni Salom at the helm of the cluster, as well as his willingness to collaborate with the public sector, which has made many projects possible, such as the Balearic Superyacht Forum organized by the cluster with sponsorship from ADRBalears».
In addition to leading the cluster for seven years, Toni Salom is also the owner of Nautipaints, an international nautical services company that began in 1971 as Nauti-Pesca Can Miquel and has since evolved to integrate two interconnected business areas: Nautipaints, specializing in yacht and superyacht painting and maintenance, and Nautichandler, dedicated to the supply of accessories and consumables for boats of all lengths. Its status as a third-generation family business has fostered a corporate culture based on specialization, innovation, and high quality standards, making it a reference in the nautical sector.
It is worth remembering that the Marcial Sánchez Barcáiztegui Award is presented annually by PIBS to recognize companies, organizations, or individuals who have contributed to the growth of the nautical sector. The event, held at the Moll Vell exhibition venue, was attended by Silvia Delgado, manager of the Regional Development Agency of the Balearic Islands; Guillermo García, current president of the Balearic Marine Cluster; and Pedro Suasi, the cluster’s manager.
The Palma International Boat Show, organized by the Ministry of Enterprise, Employment and Energy through ADRBalears and BYBA, is open to visitors at the Moll Vell until tomorrow, May 3rd.
