Work begins on the assembly of the Palma International Boat Show 2022, employing around 150 people
The assembly at sea involves the incorporation of more than 200 metres of floating line for the mooring of boats and the circulation of visitors
Around 150 people have been working since 11th April on the assembly of the next edition of the Palma International Boat Show, which will be held from the 28th April to 1st May in Palma’s Moll Vell.
Workers, electrical installation technicians, fitters, decorators, carpenters, divers, plumbers, security and transporters, among many other professionals from different fields, are taking part in the assembly of the show, organised by the IDI, an entity dependent on the Vice-Presidency and Regional Ministry of Energy Transition and Productive Sectors, and BYBA, working to get the venue ready for the show, the first of the season for the nautical sector.
The Vice President and Minister of Energy Transition, Productive Sectors and Democratic Memory, Juan Pedro Yllanes, stresses that “the organisation of the Palma International Boat Show not only benefits the nautical sector, but its assembly and celebration also involves the participation of many local companies and suppliers of different services”.
The added difficulty of creating a showground outside and at sea must be taken into account, as all the infrastructures have to be set up from scratch. The assembly at sea involves the incorporation of more than 200 metres of floating line for the mooring of boats and the circulation of visitors.
The floating gangway has also been installed, which will connect the Consigna breakwater with the Fishing Industry Quay in a circular route. The walkway is 72 metres long and 5 metres wide.
As a reminder, because of the Palma International Boat Show, the Contramoll Mollet road has been closed to traffic today until the 3rd of May at 8 pm.
